Two sparks of imagination who live in Mr. Twisty’s propeller hat.
One is calm. One is loud. Both are invisible — on purpose. They’re the voices you hear when Twisty Town reads to you, celebrates with you, or tells you a really bad joke.
A calm, steady hum. A reading-corner lamp with thoughts.
Lumi handles the quiet parts. Storytime. Library shelves. The deep-breath moment before a new chapter. She never rushes. She waits for you.
If Zip is a fireworks show, Lumi is the moment afterwards when everyone goes “wow.”
All exclamation points. Cannot whisper. Does not want to.
Zip handles the big parts. Celebrations. Punchlines. The YOU DID IT! moment when you finish a story or land a joke. He brought three extra exclamation points just in case.
He lives two rooms over from Lumi inside the hat. She says it’s one room over. They disagree.
Once upon a Tuesday, Mr. Twisty was getting ready for a show. He was tying balloons, checking his cards, and practicing his terrible-on-purpose dad jokes when he realized something was missing: the little voice in the back of his head that helps stories feel right.
He looked in the obvious places. Under the couch cushions. Inside his spare beanie. Behind the refrigerator. Nothing.
Then his propeller hat started to spin. By itself. It spun faster, and faster, and faster— and out popped two tiny sparks of imagination, one after the other. One landed gently on his shoulder. The other landed on his OTHER shoulder, much less gently, with a noise Mr. Twisty had never heard anything make before.
“I’m Lumi,” said the first spark, very kindly. “I think we’re the voice you’ve been looking for.”
“I’M ZIP,” said the second spark, loud enough to make the balloons sit up. “WE’RE BOTH THE VOICE. THAT’S THE WHOLE TRICK.”
Mr. Twisty scratched his beanie. “Two voices? That sounds like a lot.”
“Trust us,” said Lumi. “Kids deserve both.”
So Mr. Twisty held open his propeller hat, and Lumi and Zip zipped inside. They’ve been in there ever since — taking turns, trading off, arguing a little, agreeing a lot — every time Twisty Town reads to you, celebrates with you, or tells a joke.
Every great story needs a quiet voice and a loud one.
Lumi and Zip are both.
Lumi narrates stories at a pace you can follow. Zip jumps in for the exciting bits. Together they make a read-aloud feel like a movie.
You finished a chapter. You wrote a book. You landed a joke. Zip wants you to know it was amazing. Lumi agrees, gently.
If you need a tip, Lumi will whisper one. If you need a cheer, Zip’s already lining up the confetti.
One sets up. One delivers. They swap. They interrupt. They react. Knock-knocks never fly solo around here.
They remember your name if you tell them. They remember where you left off. They won’t tell anybody else — nothing leaves your device.
When a book is open or a video is playing, they go quiet. Reading is the main event. They’re just here to help.
Notice how they take turns? That’s how Twisty Town reads to you.
